“No child should go to bed hungry. No child should go without healthy food to grow and live. We can help. With the passion and support of like-minded friends, this is how Forest Feeding Families began.
I knew the hunting community would come together to provide substance to families in need and continue to be the heroes of conservation. They just needed an avenue to do so.”
I grew up loving the outdoors. The small 5-acre patch of woods and the end of our street seemed like a National Forest to a young kid in blue-collar, middle-class America. My Grandpa’s 3 acres in the country, where the small creak ran through the back, was a paradise to my young eyes. From a young age, I wanted to be outside with my fiberglass bow and arrows, my Daisy BB gun, and that Zebco rod and reel. I couldn’t get enough.
After High School, I traveled to the Hudson River Valley in NY to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. I then spent the next 5 years in the Army being a Paratrooper, jumping out of airplanes, graduating the storied Army RANGER school, and doing my best to serve our country, while still being in the “outdoors.”
My wife, young son and stepson are the cornerstone of my life. I love being a husband, father and stepdad. We are very fortunate to have many opportunities to live such a blessed life, and we are not fighting to keep the basics intact like food and healthy meals. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic provided a stiff reminder that so many others are not so fortunate.
I knew I could make a difference. I wanted to help. No child should go to bed hungry. No child should not have healthy food to grow and live. We can help. With the passion and support of like-minded friends, this is how Forest Feeding Families began. I knew the hunting community would come together to provide substance to families in need, and continue to be the heroes of conservation. They just needed an avenue to do so, that is what we’ve set out to provide.
As a passionate hunter and outdoorsmen I want to educate the public on what hunting does for conservation. My grandpa was my hunting mentor. He taught me how to be an outdoorsman. However, many others were never exposed to hunting or understand how it sustains our wildlife population. Through Forest Feeding Families, I hope to be an educator of how through ethical hunting we can feed, conserve and support.
Lastly, our small, local businesses are the cornerstone of our community. If we can feed those with food insecurities while supporting our local deer processors and butchers, its a win-win for all of us. Forest Feeding Families is committed to do our part.
Thank you for your interest in our organization. Thank you for doing the right thing and helping our neighbors. We sincerely appreciate all your support.
